The Skinny Jeans Affair

Recently, I've taken a "lovah." My crossfit lifestyle has become something of a secret love affair... although there's nothing really secret about it. However, I've come to love the 4:30 wakeups. The days start about the same - waking up to one beep of the alarm, silently changing in the bathroom into the clothes I've set out the night before, kissing Chris and Lucy - careful to not wake them up - and cautiously closing the front door behind me. I walk outside to see Lisa sitting in her car, quietly idling, waiting for me, or I carefully get into mine to go pick her up. We drive the 20 minutes to Barrigada, listening to NPR, small talk about our nights before. Our "to" conversations are usually the exact same: "it's the middle of the night. This is stupid." We get to the gate guard who without fail asks us where we're heading, as if there's ANY other reason two girls in gym clothes would be driving on at this hour. We get to the gym and are greeted by our little crossfit family. We do the warm up, do the WOD - today titled "Tess" in honor of my leaving - and finish the workout, all within the hour. We get back into the car, sweating, nasty, and tired, but so energized. Our "from" conversations are much better - cracking up at dumb stuff, talking about world issues, comparing notes on life, love and everything in between. We stop for coffee and head home. I slip back in the house, undetected, to find my babies still asleep, while my day is well on its way. I've lost 12 pounds so far, and last week even fit into my SKINNY jeans! Very exciting moment nearly 9 months post-partum. Last Thursday the WOD was dragonboat paddling, and Saturday our team competed (and WON I should note) in the 9/11 memorial race. Such a blast! There are so many things I am looking forward to doing & seeing in the states, but as we get ready for the movers to come tomorrow, it all is becoming very bittersweet. I love my crossfit, and I love my Lisa! But I will surely see both again - maybe not on island, but in some capacity again soon! In other news, Chris had his last flight yesterday, and Lucy and I went for the fanfare. Will post pics of that tomorrow - but now I HAVE TO PACK!!
