Last lasts....

We're down to the wire -- Our Guamazing Adventure has almost ended. I cannot believe how quickly the last three years have gone. We have so much to show for our time here - amazing stories, friendships, travels, the list goes on. It is our second to last night on island, and both of my babies are sound asleep after a fun and fabulous day at the Hyatt pool, complete with good drinks and great company. Last night was the annual squadron basket auction, which doubled as a "hail and bail." We were bailed last night, and seriously, it feels like just last week we were on the hail end. Unreal. I won't write too much tonight as Lisa and I have ONE last crossfit WOD tomorrow together, which means a 4:45 wake up, but the last week has been a BLAST. Monday was Chris's last flight with the squadron, and in Island Knight tradition, we went for the hosedown. Concurrent with how things operate on Guam, the firetruck wasn't working, so several of the Officers filled ice coolers with water and dumped those on him. I'm very thankful there wasn't an ACTUAL fire. Nonetheless, very fun.

Tuesday night two of the female pilots had a few of the girls over for a ladies night. Good food, good drinks, fabulous company, and a spectacular view of a cloudy sunset. Beautiful regardless:

Friday night we had our farewell dinner at Shoreline restaurant. In keeping with our theme of the past three years, it was of course, a theme party. This time around we did "Superheroes." While Chris and I vividly remember the Superhero party 3 years ago, really there is no one else on island that does. So, we reprised the theme, this time as Super Mario Brothers. The local people in Guam are called Chomorro, and since I couldn't find a big poofy pink Princess dress in time, I bought a peach mumu and went as SuperChamario Princess Peach. Lucy was Luigi, and although she did look a little like a boy with her overalls and green (although her bow should have tipped the "I'm a girl" card), the paci-stache was once again a huge hit. We had a great time.

And... last night was the annual squadron basket auction. In previous years, I've done a deployment basket and a wine basket. This year Lisa and I put together an "adults only" basket, complete with a $250 boudior photo shoot, and Breen and I did a Hover Lover basket. Two years ago, I may have stolen the XO's driver's license out of his wallet and sold that along with his putter. This year, somehow Chris and I acquired a prized rotor blade from the CO's office. Both the Hover Lover and the Adults basket went for big money -- the adult basket bringing in $560! But the show stopper was the blade, going for a cool $800. So Awesome. Chris and I bought an MH-60 tail rotor painted by one of the LCDR's to look like the actual 60 that is in the hangar. I can't wait to put it up in our new house. Somehow the evening ended up with everyone in Breen's pool, and I have to say we had an absolute blast! The auction doubled as a hail and bail, and it was very bittersweet that it was our bail. I seriously feel like we were just getting the "hail" action a few weeks ago. Time truly flies when you're having so much fun!

While this has been a week of lasts, we did have one first - Lucy's first spaghetti experience. She LOVED it! This baby girl brings so much joy to our lives. I'm so glad we get to take her with us.

But man I'm going to miss this.....

Goodnight Guam!
