Day 1 of Marathon training. Must admit, a little bit of "WHAT AM I THINKING??" is going through my head.
I found a great 16 week training program on runnersworld.com. I'm planning on following that to the letter, so that will start in July. However, that assumes one runs fairly regularly (which up until Chris deployed 1 May, I did not). The best part of the training program is that it categorizes your runs into "Easy" "Quality" and "Tempo" predicated on your speed. I thought it was slightly ironic to see "21 miles - EASY" as one of the workouts. I don't think 21 miles will EVER be easy. In fact, with as humid as it is here, I don't think 3 miles will be... SO, I also found a 12 week pre-training schedule that I uh, cropped into 5 weeks. Day 1, 30 minutes of cross training. I did 3 miles on the elliptical, had 2.5 hour volleyball practice, and I mowed the lawn in time for the lawn inspection tomorrow (the perks of living on an Air Force Base... go NAVY) so I'm feeling like quite the overachiever.
I also got my fundraising page set up... YEHAW!!

So visit it, bookmark it, frequent it, send it to your friends and oh yeah, if you can, donate!! My goal is to raise at least $2500, but I'd love to double that!!
It's 11:00 pm on this side of the world, and after my 37 hour flight ending yesterday, my body is quite confused as to what time it is. I just popped some Nyquil so by my calculations I have about 3 minutes before my eyes close... so more tomorrow, and I promise I'll post pictures from the rest of the trip-- I know I'm way behind!!

And let the training begin... I bet you'll look back on this post in a few months and laugh saying "wow i actually did something i thought i couldn't do..."
