I got to chat online with Chris this morning, which was awesome!! Apparently their email is down, so knowing that gives me some peace of mind. It's not my fault I'm a worst case scenario thinker -- it's just what I do. In any case, I bought a ticket today to visit him in JAPAN! YES! Next week!! Soooooooo excited about that!!
So in addition to traveling some 14,000 miles and heading to Asia for the first time next week, I have some big news. Huge! Last night I was sitting at LAX for several hours searching for my life's meaning (I didn't come up with much) and I decided that I am in desperate need of a project. I still have big plans to try and fly around the world this summer (why not?), but since thinking of ever getting on a plane again makes me want to cut myself (cry for help), I did something a little brash.
I hit submit.
I clicked "yes" on "Are you sure?"
I committed to raising money for No Greater Sacrifice (which, sidenote: I fully expect all of you to help me with once the time comes).
I decided that the perfect way to end Chris' deployment (he'll be home in November), was to do something big -- some sort of "I can do this" venture.
So I did it. I clicked "YES!"
Can you BELIEVE it?
I signed up for the Marine Corps Marathon.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
So friends, on October 25th, 2009 in Washington, DC, for the first time in my 27 years, I am going to run 26.2 miles. My goal? To finish!! I ran a half marathon last October, but never a step more than that. This should be interesting, to say the least!
I joined the 2009 No Greater Sacrifice Endurance Team. Here is our mission:
The 2009 NGS Endurance Team's mission is focused. We run to support the education of four children: Zach (age 8), Levi (age 6), Sam (age 5) and Hannah (age 3). Their father, Staff Sergeant William S. Jackson II, passed away after an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Ramadi, Iraq, on November 11, 2006 while on a mission supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Pretty incredible reason to run.
GET EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!
Time for some cold stone. I have big plans to change my diet and lifestyle when I start training, probably next week. For now, bring on the double scoop!! The next time I blog will be from home ----YEAH!!

6 Witty Remarks:
Wow! That's a lot of running! You can do it though!!!
I'm so glad that you got to talk to him today. That's so great you'll be able to see him in a few weeks! Glad you've made it that far!
OMG OMG OMG! :)
I'm doing the Marine Corps Marathon's 10K that weekend! We will most certainly have to get together at least once -- maybe for a carb-loaded dinner the night or two before! :)
I'm glad that you got to talk to Chris!
