I think I know my enemy. They definitely don't quit, so I have fallen back on my intelligence and superior firepower - in the form of Raid, Bleach and Lysol. I *think* (fatal thought process, I am sure) we are rid of the Guam plague - lizards, frogs, wasps, ants, maggots, YOU NAME IT!!! I am fairly convinced that if we have a child we will have to give it to a Pharaoh somewhere... ridiculous!! I came home on Christmas to ants in the inside trashcan. Threw the trash away, and sure enough a few days later we had maggots (absolutely disgusting) in the outside trashcan (which is a total "boy job" -- SO glad my husband is home!!!). Then I found a dead lizard in our house, and 2 very much alive geckos gallivanting around the laundry room. I pardoned them, as allegedly they eat the bugs. Woke up this morning to some sort of "eggs" in our psychiatric ward level sanitized kitchen, but they too have been bleached, raided, and destroyed. I just went out back to spray the outside perimeter, and found a slew of FROGS (coquis as the locals call them) hopping on our patio. I just scrubbed it with boiling water (only thing to kill maggots, thanks google) yesterday, so not sure if they are attracted to the cleanliness? Or if they are just biding their time to start the 5th plague. These are the times that Guam and I do NOT see eye to eye. So, while you're all bundled up back in the states because it's below freezing out, do not totally envy the fact that we're surrounded by water.
Other than our infestation of animals, reptiles and insects, things are good! It's great having Chris home, and rumor has it he'll be here for a few months - wouldn't that be nice?? Lots of gym time for me, as Biggest Loser started last week and I am bound and determined to win the $225 prize. Turns out when you go from working 100 hours a week and a diet of 4 carmel machiattos a day to fairly sedentary lifestyle that involves cooking fabulous elaborate meals (totally bragging) YOU GAIN A LOT OF WEIGHT!!! Who knew?? Week one and I'm down 9 pounds, and am eating 4 meals a day -- which means my body is quite pleased to not eat french fries and doritos for breakfast, a pizza for lunch and chicken piccata with mashed potatos and 5 pieces of tomato bread for dinner.... Wooh!
I realize I am WAY behind on pictures, so here are a few from Chris's big deployment!
Chris's "view" from his room...
The helo in action
Japanese boats
Subic Bay (Philippines) Yacht Club
Out and about in the Philippines at the go kart track with the other Officers
The Subic Bay (PI) Zoobic Safari. Chris said this was more of a "hands on" zoo experience, where either they don't have the funding for safety measures or the patience for it... From a tiger jumping on their "safari jeep" to feeding raw chicken to the crocodiles, the possibilities for death were endless, but a blast!!!
Tiger on the roof of the jeep
More tiger... a little too close for me!
Cageless monkeys
Croc pit... ahh!!! Indiana Jones has nothin on LTJG Robinson...
And this little guy. Chris said he was rocking back and forth, and could almost hear him saying "this can't be happening, this can't be happening." And then my loving husband told me that this lil guy reminded him of me in Guam :) hahaha.
More tomorrow - have to go sweep for bugs again :)

2 Witty Remarks:
Just thought I'd say thanks for the laugh! I loved your extermination tale! :)
